Abstract
El café (Coffea arabica L.) constituye uno de los principales productos agrícolas de Costa Rica y enfrenta pérdidas significativas por enfermedades fúngicas como “Llaga macana” causada por Ceratocystis fimbriata, que reduce la densidad de plantas y el rendimiento del cultivo. Por ello, este estudio evaluó la eficacia de diez productos comerciales a base de especies del género Trichoderma en el control de C. fimbriata en almácigos de café en condiciones de invernadero, mediante un diseño de bloques completos al azar con cinco repeticiones. Se realizaron pruebas de antagonismo in vitro, recuento de unidades formadoras de colonias (UFC), determinación de incidencia, severidad, biomasa radicular y presencia de Trichoderma en el sustrato de los almácigos de café. Se determinó que la eficacia de los productos a base de Trichoderma dependen de la viabilidad de los conidios, el almacenamiento, la dosis aplicada y las condiciones ambientales, mientras que factores como la presencia de heridas e inoculación previa de C. fimbriata favorece el desarrollo de la enfermedad.

Therefore, this study evaluated the efficacy of ten commercial products based on species of the genus Trichoderma in controlling C. fimbriata in coffee seedlings under greenhouse conditions, using a randomized complete block design with five replicates. In vitro antagonism tests, colony-forming unit (CFU) counts, and determination of incidence, severity, root biomass, and the presence of Trichoderma in the substrate of the coffee seedlings were performed. It was determined that the efficacy of the Trichoderma-based products depends on conidial viability, storage conditions, applied dose, and environmental conditions, while factors such as the presence of wounds and prior inoculation with C. fimbriata favor disease development.
